Tool 06 of 08 · Step 6 of the routine

Hoof Pick

A metal hook and a stiff steel wire brush on one contoured beechwood handle: pick the hoof clean, then sweep it out — without changing tools.

37 mm grip
reshaped in Version 2

New in Version 2: the handle was narrowed from 43 mm to 37 mm across the finger contours, so your hand closes fully around it — even with cold or gloved hands. A change our customers asked for.

Sold as part of the 8-Piece Professional Kit — not individually.

How to use it

Heel to toe, then brush it clean.

  1. 1

    Lift the hoof

Ask for the foot and support it securely.

  2. 2

    Heel to toe

Pick from heel to toe, clearing around the frog — never into it.

  3. 3

    Brush the sole

Sweep out the loosened dirt with the wire brush.

  4. 4

    Check as you go

A good moment to look for stones, bruising or thrush.

Care & maintenance

Keep it working for years.

General care guidance.

  • After each use

Tap or brush out hair, dirt and dust before it dries on.

  • Rinse when needed

Rinse the metal parts with clean water and keep the wooden handle out of the water.

  • Dry straight away

Wipe the metal dry with a cloth so no moisture is left on it.

  • Store in the bag

Keep it dry in the leather bag between uses.
