How to use it
Firm, flicking strokes — always with the coat.
- 1
After the curry comb
Use it once the curry comb has brought dirt and loose hair to the surface.
- 2
Flick, don’t scrub
Short, firm strokes in the direction of the hair, flicking at the end to lift debris off.
- 3
Body, neck and legs
Work across the body, neck, hindquarters and legs.
- 4
Skip the face
Too stiff for the face and sensitive areas — use a softer brush there.

Where it fits
Step 3 of the 8-step routine.
Care & maintenance
Keep it working for years.
General guidance for natural-fibre brushes.
-
After each use
Knock the brush against a hard surface or comb it with a curry comb to clear hair and dust.
-
Wash occasionally
Lukewarm water and mild soap on the bristles only — keep the wood and leather as dry as possible.
-
Dry bristles-down
Let it air-dry bristles-down, away from direct heat or sun, so water doesn’t sit in the wood.
-
Store in the bag
The leather bag keeps it dry, clean and in shape between uses.
Also in the 8-Piece Kit
The rest of the routine.
